What a bunch of idiots. Project Learn is great because these kids are out of control. The parents must be glad to get them out of the house but now we have to have them babysat in fear of them lighting fires, destroying property, tackling fences, broken beer bottles, vomit all over the sidewalk. It's actually pretty sad that the future of our society acts like bafoons.

What is with people in London abusing animals? First a man kills a goose in front of a family now a man kicks a cat... Pretty pathetic. There needs to be stiffer penalties for animal abuse in this city, its getting a little out of control. Maybe they should look to some of the American laws to get some ideas.

What a piece of work. I would hope, if this clown is convicted, that the owners of the cat bring a civil suit against Kloosterboer. I doubt they will get much satisfaction from the Canadian legal system. I suppose it could have been worse, if Jeffrey Kloosterboer was a young offender.

Do these people get to continue going to school or do they summarily get expelled with nothing but fond memories of their tuition? Hit em where it hurts, in their parent's wallets.

I think nothing happens to them from the Fanshawe College end of things. As I recall, Fanshawe spokespersons say that there is nothing they can do if something happens off campus. So these students can be charged with drunk in public, kill cats, assault each other, broken glass, fires etc etc etc and no consequences to their academic career or loss of mommy and daddy's tuition money. Can anyone else clarify if this is true?

He should be euthanized.......disgusting when young males have to pick on helpless animals. What next, his girlfriend? Pathetic!!
By: Sara L. on 09/08/2008
Jeffrey Kloosterboer, what a wonderful ambassador Fanshawe College has. I manage a business, and have proudly hired Fanshawe students in the past. If anyone representing Fanshawe College is reading this, I'd like it to be known, our company is seriously reconsidering any applications from persons who graduated from your institution. Other companies will follow this trend based on my conversations with them. When will Fanshawe take moral, and financial responsibility for their students?
By: R Robson on 09/09/2008
That a boy Jeffery. Way to go. You deserve a gold star and this city should recognize you.
By: Jake Snellyer on 09/09/2008
Where in this article does it say Kloosterboer was a Fanshawe student? From what I understand from friends at Fanshawe's administration, this person was not a registered student at Fanshawe College at all. And yet here you are, all of you blaming Fanshawe College for his actions! Time to read and think a little more critically people!

I would love to get 5 minutes alone with that low life scum....Such a freaking dirt bag. Stiffer penalties I say. Drunk and kicked a cat...ya he should be real proud of himself.
By: S.S. on 09/09/2008
OK well first of all Jeff is not a bad guy .... so please do NOT call him a piece of scum.. yes he did a horrible thing i agree and i hope he learns from this but you don't know him. LOVE YOU JEFF!!
By: A friend on 09/10/2008
If you have nothing better to do on a Saturday night than go around and abuse animals, then Flesherton citizens are ashamed of you. Jeff may not be a bad guy but he made a pathetic decision.
By: disgusted neighbours on 09/10/2008
Jeffrey Kloosterboer, shame on you! What an idiotic act of violence. Who is the "friend" who is standing up for Jeff anyways, saying he is not a bad guy. Obviously YOU don't know him that well, if he exhibits those violent tendencies while intoxicated. What a stupid and cruel thing to do to an animal. Way to be proud - Fanshawe Collge. I hope our legal system slams him hard, and I hope the cat owners come forward for civil action against Jeff.

If Jeffery Kloosterboer is such a wonderful, but poor, misunderstood individual, then let him prove it. First, he needs to apologize to the cat owner, and make restitution. Second, he should make a donation to the London Humane Society and the SPCA. Perhaps community service with these organizations would be appropriate. He may also want to lay off the booze for awhile. "so keep your comments to yourselve" Note to A Friend, and rest of you who share this attitude, the Heading, if you have not noticed says, COMMENTS. Yes, not everyone on this site was there, or knows this young man, but we are invited by the good folk at London Topic, to give our input based on the info provided in the article. Freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. People better than you, have died defending those ideals. Something to think about on September 11.

RC Rublik, well put. I happen to believe that we are defined by what we do in life. If you dedicate your life to helping others, it speaks a great deal about the type of person you are. If you attend parties, abuse alcohol, and kick and kill cats or other animals, than what does that speak of your character? RC Rublik makes a valid point, if Jeffrey Kloosterboer is such a good person as you all defend him to be, than let us hear of him making right what he did wrong. Where is his apology to the City of London, and to the owner of the cat? Where is his donation to the Humane Society? Perhaps instead of putting your "two cents" on here 'A Friend', maybe you should speak to Jeff and have him make right what he made wrong, upsetting so many people.

This a deplorable despicable act. He deserves complete prosecution under the full extent of the Criminal Code (despite the weakness of animal cruelty laws in Canada) and to be held accountable for his actions. I have read though that he is in fact not a Fanshawe student, and that the acts of one individual or a small portion of the college population in no way is representative of the institution itself or the majority of students that attend the college. I am a Fanshawe graduate and am currently attending a very well ranked University thanks to the experience I gained through Fanshawe. Fanshawe has always had the nickname of 'Funshawe Coollege' and was a known party destination when I went there, but the acts of student mayhem was nothing like it is now though, and I do feel a degree of shame for the actions of my fellow peers. In response to the comment by R Robson, all I have to say is that it is unfortunate that you would be so close minded as to think that the acts of a relatively small overall percentage of the student population (not all involved even being students) would be enough to lead you to stereotype and discriminate against all students, despite the performance of past students that have been under your employment. I think the only one that loses there is you. But regardless this was not right, and he did harm to a living thing and he should be held accountable for his actions, just as we all should be.

You ask do we have anything better to do then post comments? You could say the same for jeff's actions. I know if I got extremely intoxicated, there no way my drunkeness would EVER invoke me to kick an animal who has done nothing to deserve it. Thats the difference between jeffrey and responsible civil adults. Jeff may be a nice guy actually. But the fact the alcohol could lead him to do this, put him in a seperate class. If he isnt a student of fanshawe...fine. But he came all the way from fleshertown to hang with friends and help create a terrible image for them. Congratulations. I think the embarassment, prosecution, and anything else he is forced to deal with will not make right what he did wrong. As others have said he needs to be pro-active and step and and at least TRY to make it right, rather then just having friends defend him saying.. 'but he's a nice guy'.....grow up
By: Frank Desota on 09/18/2008
so i love how you people read an artical and you think you know the guy , honestly buddy i think you should be the one to grow up a little. ya we all know it was a pretty horrible thing that he did, an yea it was an innocent cat but seriously get real. he doesnt desurve the stuff you people who think you know what hes all about are saying about him. an as for the comment about doing this to a girl friend GET REAL he would never even dream of hurting a girl. we all know he made a pretty horrible mistake an hes obviously gunna have to live with it for the rest of his life. ahaa its not like hes running effing wild or somthing and its not like he dropped a bomb on london so stop talking about him like hes some jerk. that would be great thanks :) i love you jeff alwaysssss

I agree with RC Rublick comments. I think if he is in fact a decent guy who screwed up, then let him accept responsibility for his actions, and make restituition...community service for Humane Society might be appropriate. Personally I have 2 cats and if I ever caught someone kicking my cat, not sure who would end in more trouble... I am familiar with the family here, so I suspect it is a matter of a kid gone wild and needs to learn a lesson here real quick. Otherwise, next time I doubt it will be a cat. And yes, I think Fanshawe needs to crack down on the foolishness that goes on there...again some personal knowledge of the culture, and needs to clean up its act.
