London will play host to its first PodCamp, an "unconference" that will flex the city's muscle in the arenas of new media, podcasting and technoculture.

The City of London will experience its first-ever PodCamp, an innovative, educational gathering that brings people together who have a passion for new media, April 25.

The first PodCamp was held on September 8-10, 2006 in Boston, Massachusetts, and due to its success, PodCamps are now being held worldwide. While PodCamps initially focused on podcasting, the unconference has evolved to include sessions discussing many topics in addition to podcasting such as blogging, social media, social networking and video on the net.

PodCamp London (podcamplondon.com), to be held at the StationPark All-Suite Hotel, will provide the opportunity for participants to connect with each other and discuss how the medium has impacted traditional media, culture and community. Voices.com, the voice marketplace, and the Windermere Manor at the University of Western Ontario Research Park, are happy to sponsor PodCamp London as both are avid, high profile supporters of London's technology community and its ongoing development. Voices.com is sponsoring the event venue and the Windermere Manor at the Research Park is graciously sponsoring a reception thereafter for PodCamp London participants.

Joel Adams, Director of the Research Park, relates, "The objectives of PodCamp are very much aligned with our role as one of the leading centres for innovation in Canada and our goal of helping to support these types of important grassroots community building exercises in London."

Stephanie Ciccarelli, co-founder of Voices.com, adds, "This is a technological milestone for London as we begin to more fully embrace podcasting, blogging and new media. We are pleased to be part of this landmark event."

PodCamp London lead organizer, Bill Deys, shares, "I'm excited to see the response we've received for a PodCamp in London. I'm happy to greatly expand the small community we've had over the past few years. It has been so overwhelming we've had to quickly add space to accommodate that. Sponsors like Voices.com and the Research Park have helped to make planning PodCamp London a lot easier."
