This is yet another opportunity to fleece the tax payers. Absolute cash grab. The politicians of this city (town) ought to deal with the railroad tracks dividing this city, the major culprit of idling.

Another major culprit to idling in this city is those damn drive thrus. I don't see them on the list. If they can ticket in mall parking lots they can ticket at drive thrus. They are joke and a disgrace to our environment.

Good!!! When I see people idling, all I can think is that they are wasting a valuable resource that will only grow shorter in supply and higher in cost - it is your resource, my resource and our children's resource. Wake up people, this is not the 1980s. The fact is, it takes less gas to turn your car off and back on than it does to idle for 15 seconds. One of the worst, most flawed conceits of debate is to point the finger at some other activity that causes idling to argue that something should not be done in the instance being argued. The railroad tracks are not a 'culprit for idling' - turn your car off while waiting - they should ticket people who don't. Drive thru's should just be banned - they waste valuable land and drive up your tax dollars too as the amount of frontage needed increases (sewers, sidewalks and roads that are longer than necessary.) Get out of your cars fatsos! This is one step towards improving air quality and making London more livable - not less. Good for City Hall!

It's long past due! It stuns me that parents in particular feel it is fine to sit in front of their kids schools, engine running, waiting to pick little Johnny or Susie up from school. Way to think about little Johnny or Susie's future there mom & dad! I'm not that old yet, but when I went to school I got there and back on th heel-toe express (whether it was +30 or -20) or my trusty bicycle. The railroad tracks are what they are folks and it is BIG $$$ to build over or under them, something that requires tax revenue to do (something all the tax grab complainers fail to understand). The tracks aren't going away--which would be bad for the local economy--so shut off you car and listen to the radio for 5 or 6 minuters, try CBC Radio, you might actually learn while you wait--93.5FM in London.

Idling is a trivial contribution to this area's pollution. This law is nothing but a trivial gesture by idling politicians who prefer to deal with the superficial rather than the substantive issues of the day. Let's see some political will on curbing sprawl, ending cozy non-compete contracts, environmental monitoring of all industrial facilities, and make some decisions on better transportation solutions...afterall, city buses, school buses and trains and trucks are contributors to pollution too.
