Mayor's Sustainable Energy Council looks to recognize local business
The EnergySaver Recognition Program is designed to celebrate businesses that have implemented sustainable energy programs. "The EnergySaver Recognition Program is a collaborative way to reduce our collective carbon footprint," said London Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best. "By doing their part to reduce energy use, London businesses will help preserve the environment for future generations through innovation and best practices." Supporting MSEC's mandate to promote, encourage and support energy conservation, efficiency, and alternative energy, the new recognition program provides a strong forum to highlight business success in the reduction of energy use. All companies to apply and meet minimum qualifications will be acknowledged as a Recognized EnergySaver Business. And, once a year, MSEC will honour one or two high-achieving companies as an Outstanding EnergySaver Business. "There are many London businesses taking positive steps to conserve energy use," said Paul van der Werf, chair of the Council's Public and Business Outreach Committee. "Some of these businesses are real innovators who will serve as significant role models for other enterprises, so we encourage all London businesses to submit to the EnergySaver Recognition Program." The winning businesses for 2009 will be announced as part of the mayor's 2010 State of the City Address to the London Chamber of Commerce. "We're keen to recognize and celebrate all creative practices by business leaders to conserve energy for a sustainable future," said MSEC chair Mohan Mathur. The EnergySaver application form can be found on the MSEC website (see link). Nominations close Friday, Nov. 30, 4 p.m. WEB: Mayor's Sustainable Energy Council -- EnergySaver Recognition Program |
