A woman was kicked in the face and a man was stabbed in the head during a violent altercation between a male and female in the city's northwest, Sunday (Nov. 1).

Police were called to a residence on Hyde Park Road just before 6 p.m., responding to reports of a stabbing.

Police said a 19-year-old female and a 20-year-old male who were known to each other became involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a violent altercation.

"The male proceeded to punch and kick the female in the face. The female brandished a knife and swung the knife at the male making contact with his shoulder," police said.

The male fled the residence but was chased by the female.

"The male proceeded to throw the female to the ground and kick her in the face. The female swung the knife connecting with the front of his body. The male ran from the property and the female followed. The female proceeded to stab the male in the head," police said.

Both the male and female were treated for their injuries and have since been released from hospital.

The police have not identified the combatants, but have charged the male with assault causing bodily harm and the female with aggravated assault.

When a weapon is involved, that person should be locked up. If the male had used a weapon he wouldn't have been released ! Besides, he tried to leave and she chased him down. She was the aggressor.

If it's anything closely related to what I'm currently dealing with. It very well could be because the man has had his requests to have any harassment complaints fall on deaf ears and as a result of being threatened and or stabbed with a knife, took matters into his own hands. She gets aggrevated assault. He gets assault causing bodily harm. How about, he gets a simple assault charge and she get ATTEMPTED MURDER!!!

Touche on the attempted murder. Does anyone suppose booze or drugs are involved here. Much like the kiddies on the weekend smashing up perfectly good neighbourhoods I am sure they are all innocent. Lock them both up and we are all safer. Good grief Charlie Brown.

Hello! Boys, the article says HE first began the physical violence by punching and kicking her in the face. Granted, she should not have retaliated with a knife. She should have left the scene but maybe he wouldn't have let her. It appears that she was at first defending herself. But her anger at being punched and kicked in the face got the better of her. They're both at fault. An ugly scene that should never have happened. Alcohol or drugs probably played a big part in this incident.

I myself had a similar situation. I made several attempts to have my ex restrained from me, and the police completely ignored me. Then after she and her "guy friend" attacked me in my home I was charged with assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, assault, and uttering death threats. They were charged with .... nothing, of course. Two stories against my one. Good job O.P.P. Way to keep people safe you sad sacks.
