The front lawn of a northeast London residence became a parking spot for a stolen taxi cab after a male suspect assaulted the cab driver and stole the vehicle early Wednesday (Nov. 4).

The incident began at around 2:15 a.m., when a 39-year-old male taxi cab driver picked up a male passenger in the Highbury Avenue and Oxford Street area.

The cab transported the suspect to the area of Fanshawe College Boulevard and Fleming Drive where the suspect started to assault the cab driver, police said.

When the cab driver fled from the vehicle to escape the attack, the suspect jumped in the driver's seat and " drove the cab on Fleming Drive and then onto a front lawn of a residence," police said.

The cab driver suffered minor injuries and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Police are looking for a white male, early 20s, 5'7" tall, 160 lbs., clean shaven with a muscular build, short brown hair, wearing no shirt, a silver jacket with orange dots and a pair of blue jeans.

Police said through a conversation with the cab driver the suspect revealed the name of "Travis" and police believe the suspect resides in the Fleming Drive area.

Anyone with any information is asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or contact Crime Stoppers online (see link) or call 1-800-222-TIPS.
