A suspect police now believe to be connected to several armed robberies in the city last month, was apprehended Monday (Nov. 2), after being spotted by a police officer while robbing a southwest London gas station.
Just after 10 p.m., a male suspect entered the Petro-Canada, 400 Southdale Rd., W., brandished a knife and demanded cash from the clerk.
A London police officer in the area at the time spotted the suspect in the gas station, and pursued the suspect when he fled the business, running north on Wonderland Road, police said.
"The officer believed that a robbery had just taken place inside the store,
approached the suspect and arrested him. Through further investigation
it was determined that the suspect was responsible for five other
robberies that occurred in the city of London over the month of October," police said.
Binh Thanh Ngo, 30, of London is charged with robbery, wearing a mask and carrying a concealed weapon.
In addition, police have filed warrant applications for charges in connection with the following robberies:
Mac's Variety, 925 Wonderland Rd., S., on Oct. 20, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31
Noors Variety, 844 Wonderland Rd., S., on Oct. 24
Subway Restaurant, 1021 Wonderland Rd., S., Oct. 26
