Dr. Graham Pollet, MLHU Medical Officer of Health, announced an additional clinic for high-priority vaccination on the heels of confirmation that and child and a woman did indeed die of H1N1. |
The Middlesex-London Health Unit has confirmed that two of the three recent deaths were caused by Pandemic (H1N1) Influenza.
The confirmation comes just two days after area health officials announced the death of a two-month-old baby and a man and woman, both in their 70s, as a possible result of H1N1.
It has been confirmed that the child and the woman died as a result of the H1N1. Test results on the third individual, the man, are yet to be received, health officials said.
The MLHU also announced an additional vaccination clinic for people of high-risk. In addition to the previously announced clinics, Saturday (Nov. 7), from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at
Lord Dorchester secondary school in Dorchester and Westmount public school in London, an additional clinic will be held Monday (Nov. 9), from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Western Fair Special Events building.
"We have enough vaccine on hand to immunize anyone in the priority groups who has not yet
been able to get their shot," says Dr. Graham Pollett, Medical Officer of Health for the
Middlesex-London Health Unit. "We are in regular discussion with the province to determine
the next groups who will be eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine. We hope to make an
announcement about more clinics next week."
