Attack on woman probed as hate crime
"Because of comments made by the suspect, police are investigating this as a hate crime," said London police in a media release issued Monday (Nov. 9). The woman entered an elevator in an apartment building on Jalna Boulevard near Bradley Avenue just after 11 a.m., police said. An unknown male was waiting inside the elevator and began to stab at the woman's arm with an unknown object, "cutting through her clothing and making contact with her skin," police said. "The suspect grabbed the female's head covering off of her head and stabbed the head covering causing it to tear," then exited the elevator, police said. The woman suffered non life-threatening injuries during the attack. The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 35 years old, 5'7" tall, clean shaven, with a medium build and wearing a black leather jacket, dark blue jeans, white running shoes and a black toque. | I expect these things to continue until police and the judicial system get serious with these lowlifes. London is quickly being put on the map as a redneck backwater for these occurences. |

| We had similar incidents in Northern Ontario with people being racist against our First Nations people. Perhaps we need to be better educated about hate crimes and treat our visible minorities and aboriginal people more respectfully. |

| How can this happen in a civil society? Let's take this crime seriously and make London home for all Canadiens. visible minorities will think twice before moving and doing business in London unless this crime is sloved. |

| This is disguisting! So what did the \"suspect\" say? Has he been convicted yet and if not have they found another suspect? What type of charges will he be facing? Why has there been no further follow up on local televisionl? I watched it tonight at 11pm and not one thing about this was mentioned but i did learn that Atlanta is flooded and they\'re protesting in New Mexico!!!?!?!?! It\'s supposed to be LOCAL news, no? |
