What appreared to be record crowds lined the curbs of Dundas Street Saturday night (Nov. 14), as the 53rd Annual Santa Claus Parade made its way through the city's core with that Jolly Old Elf, Santa Claus, bringing up the rear.

It was an unusually warm evening for mid-November, and that seemed to only excite the crowds even more as kids of all ages eagerly awaited the start of the annual parade.

The street itself was crowded with the patter of little feet as the parade was somewhat delayed in its start and the children took to the road unable to contain their festive excitement.

But it wasn't that long before the distant sounds of drums and horns signified the parade's approach and all found a good spot on the sidewalks and curbs, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the colourfully lit floats and the marching bands.

For those who couldn't make it to the parade, here's a sample of what took place during the 53rd Annual London Santa Claus Parade.

It was a great parade. One of the best in years due in part to the weather, but I have to ask. Where was our Mayor and city councilors??????? Are they not usually propped up proud as peacocks, or maybe they were too embarressed to show their faces in public.

London North MP Glen Pearson and the Honourable Chris Bentley participated in this years London Santa Claus Parade by assisting the London Fire Fighters and the London Food Bank in thier Annual food collection... The London Food Bank raised over 11,500 pounds of food during this year's London Santa Claus Parade.

The weather was great but the parade was kind of disappointing. I thought the floats would have had some more creativity put into them. We were infront of the police station and when the bands came by, none of them were playing. I was looking forward to the bagpipes but they could not even be heard. I don't mean to complain but my neighbour was leaving the JLC and had to get past a mound of horse poop.
