London Health Sciences Centre is taking a technical step into the realm of online virtual experience to help first-time cancer patients and their families ease the fear and anxiety associated with cancer diagnosis.
LHSC has selected London-based Resolution Interactive Media (ResIM), a London, Ontario-based interactive marketing studio providing a blend of online strategy, web design, web development, and digital marketing services, to design and build an online virtual experience for the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP).
The virtual experience is aimed at softening the experience for patients and families who are often challenged not only by the cancer diagnosis but also by the unknowns related to visiting a cancer centre.
"The virtual experience will combine high definition video and way-finding interactive media on a web framework that extends the initial investment of our client," said Jonathan Kochis, partner at ResIM.
"Our modular approach to large interactive projects such as this allows us to provide a positive user experience to visitors while giving LHSC the ability to easily add to and extend the piece after launch," he said.
The virtual orientation project will make it possible for patients and their families to access and navigate the treatment experience from the comfort of their home at any time prior to their arrival.
"During the RFP (request for proposals) process, the selection team was impressed with ResIM's patient and family-focused approach, their vision for the project and the collaborative strategies they employed in meeting the needs of our special patient and family population," said Kathryn Kozell, coordinator quality Initiatives at the LRCP.
