London police charged two impaired driving suspects in one vehicle after the vehicle was seen smashing into parked cars in a downtown parking lot, early Thursday (Nov. 26).
Police said the incident started at around 2 a.m., when officer were called to a downtown bar after a man was seen driving a car through the parking lot, colliding with parked vehicles as he exited.
"Witnesses got a good description of the male driver and provided the plate number to police," said Sgt. Tom O'Brien, London police Traffic Management Division.
About 30 minutes later, at 2:35 a.m., officers were patrolling in the area of Becher Street and Perry Street when the same vehicle caught their attention, but this time the driver was a female, police said.
The officers followed the vehicle to a residence and when they spoke to the female driver, it was determined she was impaired and she was arrested.
"At this time the male responsible for the hit and run collisions in the parking lot was a passenger in the car and he too was found to be impaired by alcohol and he was arrested for impaired driving as well. It turned out this male had been arrested and charged with
impaired driving on Nov. 7 as well two weeks earlier." O'Brien said.
A 19-year-old female and a 27 year old male have each been charged with impaired driving. The male suspect faces addition criminal offences including hit and run and breach of conditions, police said.
