For all those fans heading to the Linkin Park concert at the John Labatt Centre Saturday (Feb. 23), free rides on city buses and free parking for carpoolers are being offered to help promote a green environment.

Tagged "Go Green for No Green," the initiative is a partnership between Global Spectrum Facility Management, London Transit, the City of London, and Linkin Park. The environmentally-friendly program will allow fans to help Linkin Park promote a green environment when traveling to the show. Global Spectrum and the city will sponsor a free ride program on London Transit services and free parking for those attending the Linkin Park concert who carpool to the show with at least four persons in their vehicle.

The free bus rides will begin at 5:30 p.m., and will continue until bus service ends that evening at around midnight. Fans going to the concert must show their Linkin Park ticket at the time of boarding the bus, before and after the show, to receive a free ride.

Linkin Park fans that carpool to the show will have free access to the south parking lot of the John Labatt Centre; space is limited to 80 vehicles as well as 12 accessible parking pass holders. Carpool vehicles must have four or more ticket holders, seated safely, to be allowed entry to the parking lot for the show. The parking lot will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with Linkin Park, London Transit and the City of London to provide this environmentally friendly initiative" said Brian Ohl, Global Spectrum Regional vice-president and general manager of the JLC. "This just adds to the many efforts we are undertaking to make the venue and our city a little greener. We applaud Linkin Park's vision and are proud to work with them on this show."

Jay Stanford, director of the city's environmental programs, echoed the importance of the environmental initiative. "Any time you see four or more people traveling in a vehicle to a destination you just know it is better for the environment," he said, adding "The John Labatt Centre along with Linkin Park are helping to raise the bar with respect to environmental awareness and climate change."
